What is Cardboard Waste?

Cardboard is paper material that is a little on the bulky side. It is usually sturdy, with a brownish colour material. When this material is discarded, it is deemed as waste. Cardboard waste. Cardboard waste comes in two different types. One of the most popular is called corrugated cardboard. This is the sturdy and bulky kind. Then we get more on the paper-like cardboard types used to carry much lighter products like food or milk. Both these types of cardboard can be recycled.

To recycle cardboard, you need to prepare it first. Make sure it is not mixed with any other waste. Make sure it is not contaminated with food or oil and most importantly, make sure that it is not wet as wet cardboard can not be recycled. Then, at a time that suits you, we will start the collection process.

Collection

The first step in recycling cardboard is to collect it. Waste cardboard is collected at specified cardboard collection stations by recyclers and enterprises. They are then measured and taken to recycling facilities, primarily paper mills, after being collected.

Sorting

We sort the boards into boxboard (single-layer, like a cereal box) and corrugated (multi-layer, like a cereal box) categories (multi-layer, like a shipping container). Not all cardboard types are created equal, so sorting is critical. Only certain sorts can be recycled because different materials and technologies are used to create each variety.

Filtering

Staples, plasters, and glue are frequently found embedded in cardboard. Any foreign debris that got through the cracks during sorting and pulping is eliminated during filtering. Furthermore, ink is present in the majority of cardboard. All cardboard ink is erased with de-ink. Tapes and plastics are among the other materials inspected.

Pulping

The next step is shredding and pulping after filtering is completed. The cardboard paper fibres are broken into small parts by shaving. When the material is finely scraped into pieces, the fibres of the paper, which turn it into a slurry, are mixed with water and chemicals.

Finishing

The cleaned pulp is now fused with new manufacturing materials and then placed dry on a flat conveyor belt and heated cylindrical surfaces. As the pulp dries, a machine is driven through which excess water is pressed and a solid sheet of fibres called linerboards and media for long rolls are created. To make a new piece of cardboard, layer by layer the liner boards are glued together.
